Parke J. Patten started Parke J. Patten Inc. in 1948. The company was originally founded as a farm supply and equipment company. Immediately he realized that his customers were looking for a less expensive way to heat their water and their milk rooms. He then became a bottle distributor for home gas. Soon his customers realized the savings of using gas in the barn and started utilizing it more in the home.
Over the years Parke continued his commitment to quality service and fulfilling his customers needs. It was apparent to Parke that with the continued growth and uses of propane gas that delivering in bulk instead of single cylinders was going to be essential to company growth.
In May of 1969 upon the passing of Parke J. Patten his son Edward C. Patten took over the day-to-day operations of Parke J. Patten Inc. With his guidance the company broke away from home gas to become an independent distributor of propane gas. That meant making sure current and future customers were able to receive bulk deliveries. At this time the name was changed to Patten's Gas.
The mid 70's brought a change for Patten's Gas with a reduction in the farming market. The company decided to concentrate their efforts on growing with the propane industry. As the early 80's approached the business started a wholesale division to sell to other distributors and industrial accounts. In 1985 Edwards son David E. Patten joined his father to help manage the growing company.
Alvin S. Fadden rejoined the company fulltime in 1995 to oversee the retail companies through out New England and New York.
Today Patten's Gas supplies propane gas through out the northeast from its storage in Mt. Belview Texas and ship import terminals. Patten's Gas is committed to ensuring its customers worry free supply at the best possible price. Patten's Gas employees continue the commitment Parke made to provide quality friendly service to every customer.
